35 hours per week - Salary: Starting salary £18,270 raising progressively to £35,496 after a period of qualification
We are London Overground Rail Operations Ltd (LOROL), the new joint venture company combining the skills and expertise of two of the world's most reliable and customer focused railways – MTR Corporation and Laing Rail.
Our existing fleet of trains is expanding and we are therefore looking for new people to join our team. To become a qualified commuter train driver, you will receive extensive training over a 6-9 month period. During this time, you will become technically competent as well as develop the skills necessary to communicate effectively with the control room and customers alike.
To succeed, applicants will require excellent concentration skills, sharp attention to detail, the ability to work alone for long periods of time and a willingness to accept the high level of responsibility associated with the role.
Positions will be based in New Cross Gate and will work on a rotating shift basis, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with some shifts starting as early as 4am. In order to apply, there are certain minimum criteria which applicants must meet for health and safety reasons. This includes meeting certain visual and hearing standards and passing a pre-employment drugs and alcohol test.
